E19 - "Why are some parts at the base of Olympus Mons high and ridgy while other parts gradually slope to the surface of Mars?"

Everyone had volcanoes in their top three choices. Andy said that "Olympus Mons is very interesting." Gigde said that"the volcanoes on Mars are the largest known to man. Liam thought "volcanoes should be our topic and that they were also very cool." Matt also thought "that volcanoes are cool." I think "we should do volcanoes because they are interesting and that you could learn the most out of them."
 
Great question! Actually, they are actually doing research on this. Your task should be to research what they already know about the ridge, and then try to devise an experiment to verify or attack the current theory. Good Luck!
 
Mike, Do this yourself. I tried a cut and paste and it didn't work.
 
This week we did better than last week. Everyone completed their tasks, unlike last week. We still have to narrow down our question and we're working on it right now. I think we'll do great presenting our project.
 
Think real small here. You want to find out why scientists thing the edge of Olympus mons looks like that, and then come up with a question that will support the theory. OR you want to try and find out something about how the edge of Olympus Mons interacts with the area just beyond it. I don't exactly know where you want to go; that's the best I can do.
 
Final Question: Why are some parts of Olympus Mons in space rough and crooked while other parts are smooth and level?

Outline: The objective is can u see how old a volcano is by the layers around it. The hypothesis is the slope of olympus Mons is very different on the whole volcano. The independent variable is the height and size of volcano. The dependent variable is the volcano. Our procedure is take the picture of side top or bottom of one side.
 
I'm really confused with this. What happened to one side compared to the other? Also, your independent and dependent variables make no sense. Let's talk.
