E24 - Is it possible to tell the age of a feature of a canyon by how much it has been eroded?

Comments:
You have your work cut out for you! You might want to concentrate on how long it takes tributatries in that canyon to form, and evidence for how they form. THAT you could answer with a picture.

I don't like it. The question should still have something to do with channels, if that's still what your talking about. How about the age of a channel based on the features that are found in it, or something like that. Let's talk.

Scrath that, I don't like what I said. I'm doing too many of these things. Hmmmm. We're talking about old canyons, and features found in them to identify them as being old. Let me work on that. That's a tough one.

I've been thinking about this group A LOT this weekend! The question still needs some work. We'll let it go at that for now. Hopefully as you write your experiment one of you will refine it.

Eh. That's really not an experiment. The experiment should involve the picture in trying to prove something, not a guessing game. I worry about this one. Let me think about it, and get back to you. Watch this site for future developments ;)

That's better! I think you are much closer to being there than you were before!

Why the "relatively young" part, and what does that mean? Why not try for canyons on Earth that are of various ages, and then try to match the feature from Mars with the age of the canyon?
